Excellent HomeKit Garage Door Controller

Disclaimer: I received this device for free but this opinion is 100% mine. Meross made no conditions. TLDR: Great HomeKit Garage Door Controller for HomeKit (Also Alexa and Google Assistant!) I've been looking for a GarageDoor controller for years. I considered other options like MyQ but the reviews didn't give me confidence. When I saw the Meross garage door controller on Revain, the reviews looked promising, but I wanted a HomeKit version. When this device was released, I checked and ordered the compatibility with the Genie garage door opener. $50 seemed like a very fair price. Installation: The first thing I did was plug in the device to connect it to my home WiFi. I followed the normal HomeKit process (scan code, add to room, device name, etc.) with no issues. I'm not the most comfortable person (I've installed several Lutron switches), but the installation wasn't difficult and took about an hour. A more experienced person could probably do it in 30 minutes. My biggest problem was connecting the wires to the screw terminals on my garage door. The contacts on the Meross device are bundles of thin copper wires, not solid copper wires, so I had to find a way to wrap them around the screw terminal without coming loose. Installing the door sensor was also easy. I used one of these staplers to run wire through my garage rafters. Since my garage door is metal, I decided to attach the magnetic door sensor to the garage door using the 3M adhesive pads that came with it. After everything was hooked up I did some test runs and cleaned up the wires to make them look good. It really works the way you want it to. Thoughts: - I appreciate that Meross included some extra accessories like 3M adhesive pads and a cable tie for extra cables. This really helps the install look more professional. Siri voice control works as expected. One nice touch: if you try to open the garage door by asking Siri from the lock screen, you'll need to authenticate yourself with FaceID (or TouchID, I'd guess) to open it. This is a nice extra layer of security. Both HomeKit and Meross reflect garage door status. The Meross app has a few more options like overtime reminder, night reminder, auto close etc. Minor improvements: - This is VERY MINOR. I would recommend Meross to upgrade the pin connectors to either solid copper wire that can be molded around a screw, or to these little U-shaped connectors. That would make the installation even easier. The Meross app allows the user to add a "door alarm" when the door is closed, but this alarm will sound at the same time as the garage door closes. I would recommend setting this option so that the alarm beeps for 2 seconds before the garage door closes.
