Pulling out the sample straw I found a really jagged edge that could cut my lip. After checking the remaining straws, I dropped 8 out of 15 straws for the same reason. All but a few of the remaining straws were torn, but not jagged. These things were very poorly carved by whatever machine they used. The only reason I'm not returning them is because the brush that came with them is great! The bristles are long enough to clean the sides of the bubble straws and all bristles are 3.5 inches long. The wire coil is much thicker than most equivalent brushes and the overall length is the same as other cleaners. This is the brush I'm going to use for the bean straws I'm going to buy from another company. I just hope this continues for a while.
