Review on 🚴 Efficient Blackburn Mammoth 2Stage Anyvalve Bike Mini-Pump for Quick Inflation by Anthony Grover

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Pretty good but some work to do

I've used this pump on the road a few times and have tried it on all the bikes in my garage too. It definitely produces a high volume of air and pairs well with mountain bike tires. Taking a street tire up to 100psi in high-pressure mode is doable, but it's a chore that requires some effort. A notable downside to a pump is that you don't have much room for your stationary hand to hold the pump (to hold the pump securely on the valve and have something to squeeze) since almost the entire shaft moves when pumping . It would be nice if the outer shaft sleeve was fixed and the moving part of the pump was inside the shaft. It also appears that opening "any valve" requires the tire/chamber valve stem to be inserted deeper than a traditional Presta valve setup and this can be a problem if your current valve stems are "long enough" " are for your existing pump. While I haven't had any problems with the "any valve" part of the pump, this seems like a little trick or fix when looking for a problem. I don't know very many people who need to switch pumps between different valve types, and the standard solution of Presta/Scharader reversible pump components has worked well for decades. At the same time, it pumps out more volume than others. Mini pump I had (but bigger than any other mini pump)

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Mostly ok but...
