I have mixed feelings about this product but overall I'm disappointed. The good news is that the metal base (the part that goes in the door) and metal plate are strong and well constructed. The bad news is that the cylindrical piece of metal that screws into this base and holds the ball and spring in place isn't well made. I've bought a couple of these now and after 1-2 years I found the ball on the ground and the spring broke. What happens is that the cheap threaded cylindrical part flexes and opens enough that the spring pushes the ball right through (the ball rolls across the floor). Other customers have suggested a solution: since this cylindrical piece of metal is soft, it can be easily squeezed/bent to get the ball back in place. Unfortunately, this fix doesn't seem to last too long.
