Review on INCRA TDPROTSET12 Pro T Rule 12 Inch by Brandon Show

These tools are a very good addition to the magazine

These tools are a very good addition to the magazine. They work well and appear to be very durable. Markings and holes are engraved/lasered so nothing comes loose or disappears. The 12 inch set is quite bulky and if you are making small parts I would recommend the 6 inch set instead. It all seems pretty accurate, and as far as I can tell it's all honest and true. The thickness of the metal is only about 0.010-0.015 as far as I remember, and maybe I'll see if I get a chance to measure later. As with any precision gauge, be careful not to drop it on the concrete floor in the shop or it will definitely fail. Not that I've done it with this one, but I've done it with other things and it's not pretty. Corners come first, and while most of the corners in this set are made of hardened stainless steel, they don't feel like the 6-inch or 12-inch rule. If you drop one of these items, it's more likely to fail than fly. The red anodized aluminum guide works well but has too much play in my opinion and allows operator error when aligning the ruler. But it's easy enough once you know what to do. It would be nice if the red anodized channel on the inner rail had a kind of Teflon insert so that it slides over the edge a little more easily. The 6 in the T-square probably doesn't have the same problem since the rule is less cantilevered. In general, I like these instruments and see no reason to dock any stars. I'm waiting for the 6" T-Square to be available as well, but only one of them.

Pros
  • Measuring and marking tools
Cons
  • The string is shorter than other picks
