Review on Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens: Perfect for Canon DSLR Cameras by Anson Chen ᠌

Expectations were not met, average quality.

In general, I am satisfied with the lens. Particularly pleased with a good stabilizer and FR range. But 2 zooms with complementary FRs give a much better result. Has pros: 1) Stabilizer. 2) The design is not bad, but it is far from decent glasses. The mount is metal, everything else is plastic. Its cons: 1) FR range. It is worth elucidating here. Even after the purchase, I noticed that the picture after 135 MM FR almost does not change, but I considered that these were my nit-picking and calmed down. However, when 70-200 appeared, I realized that there was no smell of any 200 mm FR in 18-200. Just over 135 mm. Very upset. Especially the realization that many, like me, use this scale to estimate the FR of lenses for a future purchase. 2) Vacuum cleaner. For 4 years, not extreme and infrequent operation picked up a lot of dust. 3) Sharpness. Loses to regular 18-55 IS. 4) The focus breeze is very noticeable, especially given the rough autofocus. The steps of the autofocus system are large, and when shooting movies with servo AF (EOS 70D, EOS M), strong jumps are noticeable. Stepping AF forward/backward results in a significant change in perspective and FR. Even with the simplest 18-55 this was not noticed.
