Update: The company was kind enough to send me a replacement unit and refund my money. This new one scratches significantly better than the first one they sent me. The plastic blade is much softer and removes most of the frost in one stroke. Having had a chance to use it now, I found a few more design flaws. When I'm scratching with two hands, I put my left hand on the handle (near the blade) and my right hand on my back. Unfortunately, the brush on the right makes it difficult to grip. But even if it weren't, and the brush was on the left, the handle hole would end up being too small to be of any use; a person with average gloved hands cannot put their hand through the hole. However, it is a good scraper and I will continue to use it. First review: I thought it would be a smart idea to keep the brush part and scraper part separate. So I bought it to replace a scraper whose plastic blade was getting too rough to thaw effectively. The splitter worked perfectly. I liked it. However, when I first fitted the blade to a frozen window, I found that the blade was almost as rough as the one I was replacing. He only made scratches in the cold. I've put the blade in different positions or scraped it, but it didn't get any better. It has now proceeded to an emergency replacement of a cracked scraper stack and I am looking for a replacement scraper.
