I am usually an Elgato Eve buyer but since (as of 01/2023) they do not sell a proper dimmer switch in the US, I decided to look at the Wemo option.I also wanted a switch with thread as I have the latest Apple TV & HomePod Mini as well as a couple other thread accessories so it would join a reliable mesh. Note that although this switch has THREAD it probably will never be part of the MATTER standard. Since I’m pretty much exclusively an Apple HomeKit user this didn’t really mean anything to me since this already integrates well with HomeKit.All of that out of the way, I found this switch to be fantastic! It was very easy to install (although, like pretty much all smart switches it is very fat and sort of has to be crammed into most junction boxes which is a bit annoying, but that’s not exclusive to this switch). It performs lightning quick! Far, far more responsive than the older non-thread Bluetooth smart switches that I have. Adding to HomeKit was seamless and easy. I just installed it recently, so I can’t comment on any potential intermittent disconnection problems that may arise but again with this being thread compatible I don’t expect it to be a big issue in my experience. Some users complained about the wiring install. I agree that wrapping the wires around the screws would be very difficult, but for me plugging directly into the back worked perfectly and was fairly easy. My home was built in 2020 so was built to the latest building codes (included neutral wire etc) so YMMV, but I really don’t see how this switch is any different from others. If you have never installed these sorts of things before, I also highly recommend buying a "wiggy” or some sort of non contact electrical meter so that you can easily identify the load vs line wires. Now the only negative. At the current price of $55-60, I do find that to be just a bit too high for what it is. I anticipate this will fall over time to $45-50 which is a little more fair, but at these price levels I think you should only buy this is you are a really big techie like me. If you’re more casual or just looking for a great smart dimmer switch, I would look at cheaper options.Overall A+! Very happy!
