Hello! I'm guessing you're a parent or grandparent who wants to protect their child, don't go broke and find a helmet that lasts 6+ months! This element checks some of these flags, but not all. The fit is great for our 7 year old and decent for our 5.5 year old. But he fits in perfectly. The older child handles things very carefully, so the helmet will outlive them in size. It's nice that it adjusts and is really snug to sit properly on your head. A helmet that flops is useless if a child jumps or falls on their bike. This could easily become a 5 star item if they spend just a little more on the belt assembly. Look, the strap is too flimsy for the red three-pronged piece that snaps it into place. The problem is that this part can slip at will and comes off almost every time your kid wears this. With our more cautious child this was less of a problem, but with a physical and noisy child? They'll tear this thing down every time and Jimmy will put it back together. No fun. The manufacturer simply lowered the price here and didn't include a locking mechanism, glue, or anything else to keep it on the strap. Your solution is another cheap one. Chin strap with a small amount of Velcro. I believe the chin strap was thicker and had more support then held the strap in place. But both could be repaired if they wanted to. See my solution in the photos. I glued the spot where I wanted the ear hole to form (in the middle of the strap) and then glued the end of the strap to itself so there was an end where the red clip couldn't slip. If you want to go even further, you can "cover" the entire strap with tape to keep the clip from moving at all. Measure your child's face and then fasten everything in place. I love values-based toys that work. It's so damn annoying that I wish I'd paid for a well-known brand. It's too late to return. Either stay away or change it to make it work.
