I've been on a crusade trying so many products to install my iPhone in the car (to use GPS). I can finally recommend this one and have decided to stop looking. This is the reason and why all other products fail.1. Brackets with ventilation holes. Great low cost solutions. Stunning viewing angle and aesthetic appearance. The problem with this is that not all vents can be cut. They can come loose and the phone can fall and become damaged. And now you've got the vent you're likely to rely on on more extreme temperature days - blocked. Finally, in cold climates, directing heat directly at your smart device's battery is probably not a good idea. 2. Adhesive/Adhesive Attachments. Basically, these are magnetic mounts. On hot days the glue will melt and your base will become unstable and you may even drop your phone due to damage. Not good. As phones get bigger and heavier, the weight of the smart device alone can be enough to detach the adhesive/adhesive-based mount. They also don't necessarily adhere well to many of the surface textures that auto manufacturers are now fond of using. Montage on CD/DVD. First, there are fewer and fewer CD/DVD drives in cars. Second, those "clamps" eventually loosen, forcing you to grip them tighter, pushing your inner urges to the limit. NOT good.4. mounts. These are claw-like dash mounts that hold your device like a binder clip. Until I receive this product, I verify that these were my recommended products. Because they were basically reusable, moveable, gel-based industrial adhesives. This made them mobile and maneuverable between cars. They also had excellent viewing angles. The only problem? They can get bulky and on hot days your phones can overheat. windshield mounts. The intake manifolds on the windshield can fall off, especially on hot days. and the heat on your device through the windshield can become extreme. Then why this product? This is a windshield mount with magnets! Fine. You've solved most problems with a heavy-duty windshield suction cup that really works and gets the job done. It's VERY stable. The magnet offers flexibility and ease of use, as well as the ability to use it at different angles. It's so compact that it doesn't obstruct your vision. And ha. there's still that windshield heat. I think you can't win them all. Nonetheless. One day someone will figure out how to achieve perfection, one day there will be no more compromises. OR - Your device's OEM infotainment screen mirroring industry will take over - maybe even a BT/wireless infotainment mirror screen. Or maybe cars themselves will become "smart devices" that you can connect to your wireless accounts to share data with your phone? This little device eliminates or eliminates all the disadvantages of all different devices except one – thermal effects. I'm willing to grapple with it (even in California) since we might only talk about it 1-2 months a year.,
