Easy Install 2005 Dodge Ram Rwd SLT

For other car maintenance enthusiasts interested in saving big bucks by replacing the shock absorbers themselves rather than buying them yourself, this job is for the rear axle easy (provided there are no rusty or stripped nuts/bolts) and requires no lifting of vehicle or removal of tires. All you have to do is unbolt the old shocks (bottom first), remove these new Billsteins and install in their place, starting with the top bolt. I recommend saving the white tether. You have to squeeze the shock to insert it into the bottom bracket and then pry it up with a flathead screwdriver to insert the bottom bolt. The driver's side rear shock will require you to lower the spare tire to gain access. Unfortunately, after 13 years of subtropical salt air and northern salt roads, one of my bolt heads had rusted so badly that it snapped off and had to be cut off. angle grinder. As long as you don't have that difficulty, this job is easy. These Billsteins seem to be pretty reliable, definitely better than original OEM.
