Review on POWERTEC 70136 4 Inch 2 Inch Reducer by Joshua Flake

I bought a new Laguna 14 Twelve bandsaw and had to hook up my shop vacuum to collect dust. I bought this PowerTec gearbox because I knew it would be a perfect match for my workshop vacuum cleaner. And I knew in advance that it would be the same diameter as my 4" dust outlet on my Laguna, so I knew it wouldn't just slide over my dust outlet. But I saw a video where other people cut off a small piece of 4 inch PVC pipe (Appendix 40) to use as a coupler. I did the same and it worked great. However, I will say that I had to lightly sand the inside of the 4" PVC pipe to reduce the wall thickness by just a hair's breadth to get it gliding. It wasn't difficult at all. I didn't have a spindle sander at the time, so I glued one 2" strip of 150 grit sandpaper onto a 1/2" dowel and installed it in my drill press. After running it a few times over the inside of the PVC at medium drill speed, it was enough to get the PVC over the sliding dust hole. You may not have this problem. Laguna has an exceptionally thick powder coating which is very durable but also probably makes the outside diameter of the dust box a bit thicker than some other brands which would explain why the 4" PVC just needed a little sanding to fit inside.You can get a smaller length of 4" PVC at either swamp box store if you don't already have one n have or need to buy full 10ft pipe. I absolutely LOVE the Lagoon Dust Collection. Almost no sawdust does not get into the cabinet and does not fall on the base. I still can not believe it. I've cut several hundred feet of boards and there's less than a teaspoon of sawdust left in the bottom cabinet and about a pinch of dust in the top cabinet. 99.99% of all dust is collected by the dust collector. Why other band saw manufacturers haven't copied their design I'll never know. Even brands of band saws that use the drag port design still collect terrible dust. It makes no sense. Definitely if you are looking for a dust collection adapter then this is it. It's very sturdy and thick enough that I would call it heavy duty. The delivery was pretty good. No complaints.
