I don't know why it has bad reviews. I was a bit hesitant to order this based on the comments, I even ordered "used" because it was a bit cheaper. The thing works absolutely perfect! Yes, the screw on the bottom isn't flush with the base, but it can be easily attached with another screw, or just put a few layers of tape over the screw. It's on the underside of the base so no one will ever see it. I would buy them again and recommend them to anyone who needs to hang a lamp over their pet.
