Sounds good but quiet

I used this muffler to replace the Flowmaster 524553 that was on my 1979 Ford pickup for many years. It always sounded good, just a bit loud with that Flowmaster sound. My truck has a system with headers, 2.5" pipes, muffler and a 3" pipe. This Magnaflow has the same configuration. In fact, it can be installed in any way without any problem. After years of testing mufflers on my dyno, I settled on the Magnaflow because of the straight or mostly straight design, which always seemed better than the Flowmaster in my testing. . Sometimes it goes up to 30 hp with a 400 hp engine. This model from Magnaflow is also a 2-in-1 configuration like the Flowmaster but has a longer body that isn't as thick. Installation was easy and I used my existing exhaust by simply cutting two 2.5" pipes slightly shorter. Lifted up and looked into the holes of the Magnaflow, it looks very high quality. Where there were sharp edges and sharp curves inside the Flowmaster, the Magnaflow actually has a smooth shape that can't resist the flow. Now that it's installed, the sound is nice. It is significantly quieter than the Flowmaster, especially when idling. My 460 is very smooth and sounds like a stock truck. Then when I step on the gas it sounds very full, with more rumble and less howl than the Flowmaster. I wasn't sure if I should go with an 18" or a 24" Magnaflow and indeed Ether would work on my truck. I suspect 18 would be just a tad louder and silence would be fine for my application.
