Review on ๐Ÿ’จ Robinair (15310) VacuMaster Single Stage Vacuum Pump - Efficient 3 CFM Power for Superior Performance by Gary Lucas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Robinair, a Bosch Automotive Service Solutions brand

Surprisingly this pump exceeds my expectations considering its performance and price. The unit comes with a 1/4" fitting already installed for older R12 1/4" gauges instead of a two port fitting (1/4 and 1/2) as shown. I have a set of CPS MA1234 gauges with a 1/4" female connector on the yellow hose that connect to the pump fitting without using the supplied straight r134a to 1/2" adapter. The r134a adapter must be in the box. Easy oil filling, no matter whether you fill the oil through the filling or outlet opening. A break of 10-30 seconds is required before the first use. Always check the o-ring every time you remove the oil filler cap as mine fell off the cap and luckily I noticed that. Also check the drain plug before you fill oil from the box for the first time, as mine leaked some oil, don't over tighten, just over tighten as you could damage the o-ring. The pump comes with a hex drain plug as opposed to the thumbscrew shown in the picture. The device can be touched (warm) after 30 minutes of operation. I was initially concerned about the plastic handle, but it feels solid and sturdy. The pump sometimes squirts oil out of the outlet, especially when starting a vacuum or overfilling. In terms of oil consumption, I've run 5 30-minute vacuums with no noticeable loss of oil. In terms of volume, it's relatively quiet and safe for indoor use apart from the occasional oil mist. I've only evacuated five 134a car air conditioners since purchase, 3 of those jobs replaced a faulty compressor and the other 2 were refrigerants. Losses/leaks repaired and the oil only showed signs of needing to be changed. I know that every manufacturer recommends changing the oil after each use, they also recommend only using their brand of oil. As I said, during the 5th vacuum cleaning, I noticed during the visual inspection through the telescopic sight that the oil had become milky while the vacuum cleaner was in operation. Glass, although the oil was clear after turning off. It's time to change the oil because that's where all the moisture that hasn't evaporated under vacuum stays, and the frequency of oil changes is debatable. The oil needs to be changed when it shows signs of discoloration or poor performance, or you can change it regularly after each use as recommended if you prefer that service interval. Without a doubt, the pump primes faster with fresh oil. The pump comes with a bottle of oil that lasts for 1 1/2 refills. Tip: Buy additive-free pump oil, as additives decompose and contaminate more quickly when mixed with moisture. Also, make sure to install the dust cap. on the pump fitting when not in use to prevent moisture ingress, otherwise the life of the oil will be reduced. I have found that this pump pulls a vacuum fairly quickly for its size, you can hear the pump change as the pump pulls most of the moisture out of the system. In 3 air conditioners where I replaced the receiver dryers and compressors, the pump reduced the vacuum to 29 microns and 28 microns in systems without replacing the dryer/compressor. , sight glass and drain plug. I would like to buy a more powerful pump, but I didn't have enough money. However, I am very satisfied with my purchase, very smooth transaction. The only downside I found. Made in China Update: Flushed 17 car air conditioners since purchase, no complaints.
