I bought the same item 66248 from a local store a year ago so I had time to rate it. I installed two light bulbs in an open lamp with a rotary dimmer. One exploded, shattering pieces of glass. Luckily I wasn't in the room when it happened, but I heard it explode. As expected, I did not find any warnings on the packaging to use a dimmer with this halogen bulb. GE Customer Service sent me a prepaid return package and a coupon to return a broken lamp.
