I didn't expect much from these inexpensive files and the construction looks "cheap", but they work extremely well. I use them for making bassoon reeds. The coarser grits remove material quickly in a controlled way and the finer grits make things smooth. These are my first diamond files and I like them better than steel files. They don't tear the wood, they're slow to clog, and when they do, they can be rinsed off with water. I bought two additional sets to give to other double-reed players I know. (I've also used these files to smooth some soft brass tubing, but I have no idea how they'd work on harder metals.)
