I used these spoons to mark all the plants that died in the garden in the fall. A specific plant was written on the spoon with a permanent marker. In the northern climate, when the plants died, these spinners worked perfectly and withstood the winter snowfalls. Now, with the beginning of spring, the spoons are still durable and eco-friendly. The landscapers who decorate all the flower beds in my house and my (elderly) mothers who don't step on tender stems below the surface during their spring chores have been really great for my needs. I'm sure they work just as well as spoons.
