Review on Sony Walkman NW-A105 Hi-Res 16GB 🎧 MP3 Player in Black - Enhanced Audio Experience by Robert Dabney

See, I want to start by saying that I think this device is NOT for everyone. Unless you're used to Android, you won't enjoy using this device (unless you're willing to go through the settings and tweaks that Android offers, which for me is the fun part). Numbers aside: battery. Android eats battery, it always has and always will unless Google somehow manages to make more money off better batteries. If you're annoyed with having to charge your DAP at least once a day when you're a heavy user, then this isn't your device. Heck, and for the average user, it can discharge too quickly! I personally use this for a week every morning on my 1 hour commute to work, whether playing Spotify tracks offline or live streaming via hotspot. Guess what's in my car? Charger! Who would have thought that! Of course, this may not be convenient for everyone, but it's still an option for most. I commute to work and use it pretty much all day. Whether connected to my Bluetooth speaker or my Sony MDR-1AM2, it sounds fantastic! It manages my headphones better than my Pixel 3. If I've lost a lot of juice during the day, don't worry, I have 2 Type-C chargers in the office. If I leave work at 5am I can easily charge it in the car or do it when I get home. Charging this device is not and will not be a problem for me. Now having Android 9 for the size and weight of this device is an incredible achievement. Good job Sony. I've wanted an affordable Sony DAP for Android for a very long time and I'm so glad they finally delivered this little guy. It might not replace your high-end DAPs in terms of sound or functionality, but for me and my type of use, it's just perfect. I wanted to give this 4 stars due to the lack of accessories, they could easily have included a suitcase or something similar. Spring. never mind I just couldn't give it less than five stars because it's been so handy in my life these past few days. Spotify, Deezer HiFi and FLAC play smoothly and sound incredible in my headphones. I'm not an audiophile so keep that in mind. However, I will say that this player under the influence of Devil's Herb provided a very pleasant experience and I believe it will continue to prove itself to be a worthy companion in my sweatpants or shirt pocket. Yes. It's so small and light. All in all, if you're familiar with Android and want a small, portable, dedicated device that lets you enjoy music without being distracted by your phone's notifications, that doesn't break the bank and comes with such a customization interface, you should give it at least a week to try it out and see how you feel about it. Oh, I almost forgot, take out the memory card, trust me. 16GB may not be there at all. Rschunimagu. Come on Sony There are 32GB and 64GB models in Japan, but not in this one yet. I put in a 256GB Samsung memory card and haven't had any problems with it so far. I posted this review on Kurt Cobain's birthday and used this Walkman all day listening to Nirvana and Christian Death. Sometimes it's the little things in life that make a big difference in our lives. Update six months later: I originally gave it 5 stars, but I've decided to update this and give it 3 instead. Two issues: battery. Wow. It has not been improved by updates. It only got worse. It just got really annoying. Also Spotify is ALWAYS loaded from the memory card. And I mean forever. Am I trying to download an artist or playlist? Many times I had to restart my device for Spotify to work properly and it wouldn't work for a long time before I had to do it again. I love this device, don't get me wrong, but I expected it to be value for money and I just didn't get it. This DAP definitely needs maintenance.
