This is new because Apple doesn't sell watch chargers without a cable. The shortest cable I've had with the watch dangles charging options from the cable, with the watch hanging from the magnetic end of the cable. It's one less cord, and if I have the wall charger, you can see in my photo that the watch sits comfortably on it. Overall I'm very happy with the charger due to its portability and the lack of an additional short or long cable. Charge times are actually a bit slower than Apple's stock cable, but I usually let it charge overnight.
