Review on Inch Dual Marine Speakers Polypropylene Car & Vehicle Electronics for Marine Electronics by Craig Lovro

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy installation in previous holes. Sound distorts closer to the upper power limit of 50 watts per channel

They went into the 2005 Larsen 27 Lxi to replace Jensen's original 150 watt speakers which had just been warned about the weather and the cones banged. They went in easily, although the old speakers had a latch on the cover and are solid, and I had to drill new screw holes because they were further apart than the original ones. The sound is excellent at around 50% volume when playing from the iphone. set to maximum volume. But when you start cranking the volume up to 75% on my 200W/50 per channel system, they start to distort quickly. it said. at idle or low RPM, 50% is almost too loud for conversations, but when we're on the move and try to turn up the volume, we distort the upper frequencies. I'm not an audio expert but I don't understand how such a 200w speaker can distort the sound on a 50w per channel 200w max head unit. To be fair I think the Jensen that came with the boat will also distort but they weren't new solid speakers for so long before they blew up I kind of forgot. Short version: They're cheap, sound good, work, and have gotten us back to good sound when played at a reasonable, old-fashioned volume.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some difficulties
