The 4-piece dowel has a very, very small diameter.

I especially love the little stop sign that lights up when you push your car into the garage. It is easy to assemble using a cable tie connecting each of the four very small diameter dowels together to adjust the item to the desired height. The instructions said "press hard" and I did (I'm 76 so I'm not very strong). One of the collars broke when I squeezed it. Luckily I only needed 3 dowels so it worked. The product is very light and definitely won't damage the car if you loosen it and I think it will do the job.
