First of all it is a much better product than the Harris filter. It's much more stable and runs MUCH faster. It's easy to clean and (as long as you watch the company's YouTube video linked below) simple to use for the most part. It is important that you read ALL the instructions (sometimes a couple of times because the instructions are not 100% clear) so you know how to clean it and use the filters. The best thing about him is that he gets the job done. The #1 and #2 filters used with it work well (I usually only use #2 filter because I haven't made a very heavy wine with it). HOWEVER I had nothing but problems with the #3 filter and wasted time, money and wine due to this process. At first I was ambitious and used #2 and #3 back to back and when I used a #3 spacer the wine splattered EVERYWHERE. The instructions (which I didn't notice in that area) said to wait a couple of days for the wine to sit - I did - and it was still splashing everywhere - a fountain spurting out of the pods. Tried maneuvering the pads, soaking the pads longer, running water through the pads first to test - nothing worked! I refuse to use page 3. I really didn't see a problem in not using it. I've used it for regular red wine, white wine and ice wine, which is recommended for ice wine #3. Without the #3 pods, the wine comes out fine. A tip about the filter. Sometimes the filter seems to lack suction when drawing the wine from the bottle. If this happens, turn on the filter (while the hose is in the bottle) and remove it for a split second, then reconnect the short outlet hose from the motor to the filter (remove the end attached to the filter) . This creates a stronger suction and allows the wine to flow easily through the tube. As for the drip tray. Watch very closely. It tends to fill up quickly before it has time to drain down the pipe. If you find it's not draining properly, make sure the drip tube is fully extended to where you're running it (it's all down to gravity). So here's the breakdown - I definitely recommend this product if you're making 6 gallons or less (I can't attest to anything over 6 gallons). I would definitely NOT suggest wasting your time with filter pad #3. Here is a link to use the filter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeohQosn34M
