Review on Jeep Tailgate Lock Actuator Motor - πŸ”’ Dorman 746-260: Compatible with Selected Models for Enhanced SEO. by Aaron Johnson

Cheaper and works just as well

Situation: Locking and unlocking my car caused a loud squeak in the back door of my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After some research it turned out that the actuator failed. Result: The replacement was pretty easy (you'll probably break a few studs) and took about 20 minutes. You will need a star-shaped torque screwdriver, which is also used in the front door, as well as a Phillips screwdriver and a door panel puller. Look at the door handle on the car. This is the only screw holding the entire unit in place. The device looks identical to the original and the manufacturing materials are almost the same. Plus, it's so quiet I can't even hear it from the passenger seat. I believe the lever is plastic (like OEM) and the rest of the box is metal. The lever feels solid and looks like it will last longer than the actual motor in the actuator. Although I broke a few tabs they were still reusable. The OEM drive lasted me 10 years so I'm hoping this one will last me another 10 years. By then I will probably have driven 300,000 miles and it will be time to buy a new car. (fingers crossed) Definitely recommend this unit that saves you about $25-$30 over the OEM while still offering the same level of quality.
