Even though many people claim that you need to take a photo with a focal length of at least 85 millimeters in order to capture the correct "shapes" of the face, I purchased it for crop (D7200) use as a portrait. But let me tell you, on a crop with a FR like that, you can pretty much forget about shooting in tight spaces like apartments, because even this fifty kopecks is not always enough. I'm telling you this because even this fifty kopecks is not always enough. I debated back and forth between the 50 mm 1.4G and the 50 mm 1.8G for a very long time. After looking into more specific information and the particulars of how a faster lens works, I have come to the realization that I will not shoot with the aperture wide open anyway. In the end, I went with the number 1.8. The only drawback is that when I was processing photos in LR, I could not locate a profile, so I had to use the profile that was included in the earlier version (1.8D). To tell you the truth, what struck me most was how accurately the colors were rendered. The eyes are a particularly fascinating feature. Very nice, warm, and soft colors when the aperture is wide open, and the autofocus is spot on. The lens is extremely accurate; in 99 out of 100 shots, I only need to focus on one point. However, I feel the need to point out that the actual focusing speed is not particularly quick. Because the depth of field is so good, you do not need to be concerned about the nose becoming out of focus when you are concentrating on the eyes. It is convenient to take it with you wherever you go because it is both portable and lightweight. Despite being manufactured in China, the quality of the craftsmanship is exceptionally high. It would appear that there is a protective seal against dust and moisture as well. This is a 7-bladed diaphragm, but I have not yet caught the "nuts," which is one of the drawbacks (if you really want to find fault). In a broader sense, we are able to say with confidence that this is one of the "must have" lenses that every amateur photographer ought to have in their bag. If you are still debating whether or not to purchase it, then here is what you should do: purchase it without a doubt! In particular, if this is your first time ever getting "fixes."
