On its own merits, I would say it's definitely better than nothing. At the highest setting it keeps my coffee warm, not hot. If you really linger over it and let it sit, it starts to get that weird somewhat burnt taste. The directions indicate that a flat-bottomed mug works best, which is true - and I can kind of see that being the case for all mug warmers. Unfortunately. it's a little inconvenient as most mugs actually don't have a flat bottom.The model I received also comes with a timer - which I feel is sort of a useless feature because it doesn't make sense that someone one put their mug on and walk away and forget it. When I'm done with my coffee, I turn off the mug warmer. I guess the timer is nice as a safety feature if you're worried you’re getting forgetful. I received a light mint green warmer; color options for matching decor is a nice feature.4 stars because it seems like it does what it's supposed to.
