They work well when the sensor "sees "

but not so well when the lampshade doesn't let in enough light, e.g. reader on the chair. I wanted to make these devices "semi-smart" and not connect them to a wireless network (they're mostly wired, so a "smart plug" doesn't help). I'm not a fan of anything and everything. be wireless/internet-enabled (reading lights, bathroom lights, etc.), but LED lights are so efficient that it makes sense to turn them on when the room is dark, even during daylight hours, so that the infirm cannot reach the light switch light to turn them on turn it on, and can control when the light turns off, rather than setting a time that may not coincide with the event). Still working on a solution. Don't assume that there are lightbulbs that can hear and respond to "on" commands. and "off" without "knowing" more?

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic
