It does exactly what it should. I used it to pierce a solid wood door (70's) to install a latch. As expected, it took a little while for the solid wood to get through. It worked great. The alignment is perfect. I wish there was a template for drilling the door frame (or at least a template) in the kit. However, it is easy enough to do. I installed the deadbolt and locked it as far as I could, circling the lock with a marker, then drilled a hole in the frame.
