My front door blew up so I had to knock on this unit. I had to enlarge the hole the lock went through to fit the new lock. I'm no carpenter but this was easy and it came with two sizes of drill bits. Maybe not what a pro installs for a living, but for this old man it was all I needed.

I like it. Extracting the wood core from the drill is quite difficult. It's getting hot. I noticed the blades dulled after a few doors. But it aligns your holes perfectly. After you've drilled the holes, close the door and push the small drill bit through the hole and give it a few turns to mark where to drill the hole in the door frame.

I have a house that is over 50 years old and the inside door handles needed replacing. For some reason I had to re-drill every door. This little helper got the job done quickly (remember, if you have veneered doors, use masking tape over the hole on both sides before drilling and only drill halfway through). It does exactly what it should. I used it to pierce a solid wood door (70's) to install a latch. As expected, it took a little while for the solid wood to get through. It worked great. The alignment is perfect. I wish there was a template for drilling the door frame (or at least a template) in the kit. However, it is easy enough to do. I installed the deadbolt and locked it as far as I could, circling the lock with a marker, then drilled a hole in the frame.

My husband and I have used this on several doors and it works great. It's pretty easy to use. It stays in place so you don't need a second person to hold it in place and he's drilled a hole in the right place for the lock to fit perfectly. We installed keyless sledge locks on our doors and the old holes weren't big enough. My husband first tried the DeWatt cordless hand drill.
