Came for the Black-light. Wow'd by the WHOLE Package!

I purchased this because I wanted a strong black-light torch for testing various craft projects that use UV-triggered pigements like glo-in-dark 3D prints and t-shirt designs and UV-color changing pigments/materials. Also great for finding pet "oopsy" spots. What I found delightful was the entire rest of the flash-light!Pros:- Excellent build quality- Good battery/charging setup. Takes a bit of "spinning up" the batteries (see below)- PACKED with features. UV is bright and useful, visible light is blaring bright! Different modes, and sidelight are just Wow!- Side-light is the real unsung hero, hear.- Magnetic base is very useful and allows for cool "Darth Maul" double-ended torch effect. ;-)- All features combined make it an outstanding valueCons:- It's big and heavy, but well balanced and stable. Not as much a "pocket" light as a "bag" light.- The batteries take a few charge-discharge cycles to get to a full-charge capacity. If you have a battery conditioner, might be worth running them through a few deep-charge cycles to get them "warmed up".Some highlights:The focus feature is great, going from a flood-light wide beam to a very tightly focused targeting cone with the slide hand-feel of the lens collar being smooth and easy to fine-tune. Add in the foot-magnet, side-beam lamp, and USB-18650 charging and this thing is an amazing feature-packed value for $11USD/unit!Just in the short time I've had these, they've already been used for a number of around-the-house, workshop and crafting purposes. Very versatile in side-lighting situations. that lamp in the handle really comes in hand and has gotten more use than the main torch-end.Build quality is solid with just the right weight for it to feel firm, but also balanced so it doesn't feel nose-heavy. Anodized metal has a smooth-satin finish and component fit is water-tight. Having that magnet in the base is both useful for sticking this too things as it is for providing a flat/stable base for having the light pointing straight up. Already designing a 3D printed "pop-up" lantern cap for these!Very comfortable having this with me in my kayak. haven't tested float-ability, but probably will throw a foam mini-buoy on it just to be safe. The belt-clip is very firm spring-steel and has a solid grab either on a belt or in a pocket/bag holster. One item of note. As shipped the 18650 batteries that came with my units were showing nearly full-charge when I received them, but both seemed to burn out within 4hr30m of continuous use in mostly side-light mode. After a couple of charging cycles (2-3hrs) they're now operating at closer to the advertised range. About 6hr30m to 7hr+ if just using low-setting/side-light.

Pros
  • Ideal for searching for lost items in the dark
Cons
  • Unresponsive controls
