I bought these to use on a heat transfer project. For starters, some were already broken when I received them. I figured it's okay, I could use them for other projects. And planned accordingly. So I wasn't upset. This is a natural wood and this is what should be remembered first of all. However, they are very beautiful. They only handle heat bursts for HTV projects. Wood expands and contracts. This is the chance you take when using any tree. They are great for painting or gluing if you use wood glue. I have bought three sets so far. Again, the broken parts didn't bother me as I recycle them for the layered projects I have. Round cuts are better, and they're not perfect circles, which is nice because trees ARE NOT THAT. I made gifts with jewelry.
