I have a black Columbia jacket which I also bought from Revain and it's nice and surprisingly warm for being there and at a reasonable price so of course I have one bought such a jacket for your child. His arm length is a bit long but he is 5 and I bought xs 6/7. To be honest, I can't imagine becoming smaller. I debated what to take and finally settled on sz up. I'm glad I did. I would say my 5 year old is pretty average. He is 42 pounds 5 years old. So if your 5 year old is sz on average I would take more. 4/5 probably wouldn't last him long. It has room to grow and wear layers underneath. I'm happy.
