For the price it's pretty slow in low light, but given the range it's trying to cover it's as good as it gets. definitely makes it a two-handed camera, and the flash is blocked, so some design flaws are inherent in the next line. The Nex just wasn't designed for a lens of this size and it shows, but as we know the smallest improvements in a lens make a big difference in price, leaving you to make your choice as to whether it's worth the price in comparison his little brother. Ultimately, I didn't find it great for long-term use, but when I got the Zeiss 24mm, nobody else in my kit really stood much of a chance anyway.
