Positively surprised, then very disappointed

UPDATE: Block died after 3 months. He started playing, frequent resets, then the screen just went off. I have contacted the seller and they advised me to ship the unit to their Portland facility and I will get a new one and let them know if the item receives anything strange. Paid Β£10 to send it back, told them it was there and they sent me a new one from Singapore. At this point I hadn't had a stereo for almost 3 weeks. Finally got a new block, but it was completely different. It was different for the worse (you can see the original block in my photos). The BACK button has been replaced with a BAND button. Serious? Why on earth do you need quick access between AM and FM channels these days, the back button made more sense on a tablet based stereo. Also, it doesn't fit properly, the OEM bracket mounting holes are about 1/2 inch too far back making the unit protrude a lot more and making it impossible to attach the fairing. And the frame is deeper, which makes it even more difficult. touch in the corners and sides. So I'm now sending this for a full refund and getting nothing. So far I've had very bad experiences. I decided to upgrade my '97 4Runner to a newer in-car entertainment system. I've been brand loyal with my car electronics for a while, so that sucked for me. A few things I wanted with my device were an Android operating system, a rotating volume knob and a bezel which would be easy, or I searched for hours and found that most of these Android stereos are rebranded Chinese devices, where the " innards " are almost identical, the only difference being the presentation or rather the look and the arrangement of the frames. Apart from that, this device perfectly meets my needs and has a 1.6 quad-core processor and an HD screen. So that's two pluses too. Received the device very quickly with Revain, as expected. Opened the box and was amazed/disturbed at how light the hu was. I honestly thought they forgot to put the guts inside .My old half din block was twice the weight of the new double din.Viewed through the vents, the unit is a box of multiple plati interior and a screen on the outside. My first concern is that the advertised 4x45W will not be accurate and the sound and volume will suffer as a result, but I'll find out soon enough. All parts were present and the unit was exactly as pictured. Wiring diagrams were included with all wires. About the installation. When researching these units, most people said they had to trim the dash a bit to get them to fit. Actually it wasn't an option for me. I wanted to place it outside the frame, like in a factory. This is where it gets tricky. First of all the new case has a lot of mounting holes so this wasn't an issue but rather spacing and installation. The bezel opening and front dimensions are so narrow that when mounting behind a bezel you almost always have a gap on one side, top or bottom. If you have a 3D printer you can print a decorative ring to fill the gap. Also, the volume knob is too short and rubs against the side panel, and the connectors on the back are incredibly tight to the back panel, so it looked like I might modify the record after all. I actually only had to open the corners of the bezel because the radii got bigger, after that it stood straight, a bit tight but looks good and there is no trace of touching the bezel. At least that way I could make some room in the back and pull the handle out. Unfortunately there still isn't enough room for a USB port no matter how this is installed (on the back or through the front panel) so I ordered it. UCEC USB 2.0 Extension Cable - Left Angle Male to Female - 20cm (0.7ft) for connection. Flush Mount USB Cable - Rerii 1 Meter 3 Feet Dual USB Extension Flush Mount Dashboard Panel Mount Cable for Car, Boat, Motorcycle etc. The device itself is pretty nice, it takes about 25 minutes to fully charge seconds. When it boots up it goes straight to the radio, which I think most stereos do. It is worth noting that this device has no ant control. In other words, if you have an active antenna, it won't be prompted to go up when the radio is on, so I'm stuck with poor reception at the moment. My worries about noise and volume vanished immediately. It sounds great and is just as loud if not louder than my old signature Hu. Tons of settings to tinker with. For the subwoofer I used the rear F and rear L jacks which work fine, I think the mono RCA sub jack is for newer cars. GPS works great, works out of the box, so to speak. Overall I am very happy with my purchase, would do it again. Of course it's only been used for a few days so I'll update my review if anything happens. Update 3-26-17 Well so far so good, nothing special. I took out the micro SD card to insert a new one with music but I lost it somewhere in the device. There is a small gap between the hole in the SD faceplate and the bracket, just enough so that if you don't walk straight with the card you can just walk past the side of the bracket and it will fall inwards. OK. Also, the USB ports appear to be for data and charging at the same time, so that's nice. Everything is fine with the rear camera, the night vision works quite well. Image sharpness is fine, but then again, all the ones I've seen, even the factory cameras in newer cars, are fine.
