Design flaws to test, measure and verify

I bought this meter to test the pH of peat moss, soil and compost. At first the device worked, but problems soon arose. problem one. Having done everything according to the instructions, the device quickly took more than a minute to register the smiley face indicator. It is not possible to keep the pH meter in the sample for more than a minute to get a reading. The second problem is that the plastic immediately surrounding the glass probe has 4 negative spaces that collect and hold the particles of the biomass being tested. No matter what I did, no matter how thoroughly I cleaned the device, I always found dirt floating in the storage solution, which obviously affects the calibration and is very likely related to problem #1. I sent the device back. Considering the price, I should be getting accurate readings in 5 seconds, not 90 seconds. I have no idea why this device has 4 wells to allow the substrate sample to be pressed against the glass bulb after a thorough rinse. Without this design flaw, I would have considered replacing or warranty service for the device due to the longer time to get results, but this issue, combined with an apparent design flaw, made me abandon Apera altogether. I also returned an unused EC Apera meter that I was so disappointed in, overwhelmed by this apparent design flaw.
