The best everyday lens for your Sony Alpha DSLR

When I bought the Sony Alpha 200 I liked everything about it except the lens that came with it. The 18-70mm lens takes decent shots, but it feels light and plasticky, and the overall zoom length just doesn't cut it. I don't use a wide angle lens as often as a telephoto lens, so this was definitely a bad lens for me. So I set out to find a good general purpose lens for everyday use. I tried the Minolta 50mm f1.7 and it's great for low light indoor shots, but not as versatile as a zoom. The most common zoom lenses were 28-85mm or 28-105mm etc. Then I found a SONY 24-105mm lens and it looked like the right one until I saw the $549 price tag. I read that the Sony 24-105mm was actually a reissue of a Minolta "D" series lens that is no longer manufactured. All reviews said the older Minolta 24-105mm performed well with excellent color reproduction. So the search for a good example of the Minolta 24-105mm lens began and I found one that was only 9 months old. THIS IS THE EVERYDAY LENS YOU WANT FOR SONY ALPHA. F3.5-4.5 is better than the regular f4-5.6 on most traditional third-party zoom lenses. THE WIDE ANGLE IS STILL GOOD AT 24MM, BUT THE 105MM LENGTH IN PORTRAIT (ACTUALLY 152MM ON A 35MM PHOTO) IS JUST A LITTLE LONGER THAN A STANDARD LENS. THE LENS IS COMPACT AND COMES WITH A LABEL BUN. The 62mm filter size makes it easy to find good filters at a reasonable price. FOR $252 IT WAS THE BEST ADDITION TO MY SONY ALPHA INSTRUMENTS. If Sony's 24-105mm lens ever drops to $250, I'd consider it. This lens has great colour, a crisp feel and no zoom creep. This is excellent!
