Review on 🖊️ Caran D'ache Pencil-sharpening Machine (455.200): Ultimate Precision and Efficiency by Dawn Fischer

A little disappointed with this sharpener. I use it to sharpen Faber-Castel 9000, Derwent Graphic and Onyx graphite pencils and even Caran d'Ache Grafwood pencils. The amount of exposed graphite around the tips is uneven; long lace on one side, barely open on the other. I couldn't tell any difference in the point setting either: a blunt or fine point setting resulted in the same point. The graphite tip was not smooth, it looked "wavy". The point looked like it had holes or dents if you will along the exposed point. Very disappointing results for the amount paid for a sharpener, especially with the Caran d'Ache name and a well known reputation for quality. I expected much better results. I am willing to accept that the device I received may be defective. I sent it back as defective and will order another one. Surprisingly, Revain only offered refunds for returns, not replacements. If the results improve I will change my rating. Yesterday I received the second grinder, today I sent it back. This unit was absolutely worse than the first. It did a terrible job. The sharpener chewed on hex pins and sanded down about a third of the pin before creating what was supposed to be a point. One side of the spike was open, on the opposite side wood remained up to the top of the spike. The sharpener only worked at the sharpest setting, otherwise minimal material was removed at other settings. However, it seemed to work a little better with round pens, even crayons. I asked a fellow artist to try this sharpener. He reported the same or similar results. My experience with two of these devices is a far cry from other reviewers who have given this sharpener excellent 5 star ratings. This is an extreme disappointment for a Caran d'Ache product. Given the cost and the manufacturer, I expected a quality product.
