I bought these to replace a pair of knee pads/elbows/wrists from the 1990's when in-line skates were popular - a 90's dream. I dusted them off because I now have a dangerous 2020 electric scooter and need protection, but the elastic straps on these old pads were no longer elastic. First of all, I'm a medium and I looked at the size chart and it came out. I was on the border between medium and large, so I went for medium. Oops! You are too small. Should I tuck my leg in and pull the elastic "sock" up and around my pants? Or should I just use velcro straps and press my knee into this sock? My inline skate knee pads from the 1990's didn't have this toe piece. The instructions don't even mention it. strange. Aside from being small, these new ones are also painful to wear in the first place. The plastic rectangles you thread the straps through had sharp extra pieces of plastic that stung me, so I sanded them down with a nail file. The Velcro itself is sharp and prickly, and the edges sometimes dig into my hands on the sides of the straps. Older covers had extra space between the Velcro edge and the width of the elastic, which apparently avoided this particular problem. The pad protection is actually better than my gear from the 1990's. However, they appear to be worse in every other way. If they ever decide to sell the plus size again one day I might give it a try as it seems like there is a shortage of decent products in this space when I see what is still available.
