That's fine - better and easier than supposedly waterproof wire nuts that seem like wishful thinking. This is a problem with thicker stranded wire (like my existing landscape lighting) which tends to kink and fungus instead of fitting fully into the tubes. There's hardly a second chance to insert the wire after it's been bent, stretched, and covered in gooey silicone. DryConn direct instillation connectors are simpler, more reliable and cheaper - you can find them in stores or online if you need more than a dozen.
