Review on Olympus Zuiko 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 ED Lens – Compatible with Olympus and Panasonic Standard Four Thirds Digital SLR Cameras by Chu Mei Hua ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It was a bad idea to buy it, the money was wasted.

One of my favorite lenses, after a year and a half of use (and how did it live so long, with such and such mounts!) A crack appeared near one screw, called the service - the voice on the phone answered very reluctantly that yes, maybe for 8 thousand change, it’s not known yet, maybe I pulled everything out myself and the case is not guaranteed + you need to send it for a month from St. Petersburg to Hong Kong time. They also said that they would change it again to plastic, but what for I need it for 8 thousand . I decided to seal the crack myself, screw it and live on, it wasn’t there :) I took off 4 screws, and under two side screws there were fragments - this is what he was holding on to - the thickness of the plastic is half a millimeter ! The head of the screw is drilled two thirds of the thickness, and the lens is held on one third. I just don't understand how you can do something like this! It's a shame.

Pros
  • Sharpness, color reproduction, speed, bokeh - I liked everything.
Cons
  • Short-lived, even with my super careful use. Not only is the bayonet plastic itself flimsy, but the mounts are specially deepened so that everything falls off as soon as possible.
