So far so good! However, it only took me 30 minutes lol. First setup advice as I just went through this and want to help anyone facing the same problem. I bought this cable to connect a Windows 10 laptop to a Cisco 3750G switch. The process was easy. Connect the cable between the USB (2.0) on the laptop and the console port on the switch. Go to Device Manager, locate the cable (mine was listed under "Other"), update the driver (which will move the device from another to the appropriate category). That's where I encountered the problem. After trying both of the above steps, I still couldn't connect to the switch using putty. No idea why. It turns out that for some reason the newly updated device driver defaults to COM3 (instead of COM1, which is what Putty expects). So change COM1 to COM3 in Putty's Serial Connections tab, open and boom, it should be. Great cable.
