I really like how this carafe looks for the price and that it's glass so *should* be lead free. It is strong and stands up straight. However, I have a problem with a very bad stopper design. The cork uses a pair of thin plastic valves, fairly rigid, that are pressed against the inside of the bottle neck. This does not create a true seal and you will find that if you tip the carafe over, the liquid will spill out. Of course I won't store the bottle upside down, but any leak in the cap will slowly evaporate my drink. I plan to wrap teflon tape around the plugs' plastic valves and that should take care of that, but it won't look very pretty.
