Only 10% Bamboo Suitable for Coffee Maker Accessories

They have minimal papery taste or odor when you wet the filter so they are good for those who just want to brew to taste. I know people like to claim they taste cleaner because they're made from bamboo. I call it BS because they are only 10% bamboo. There are brands that make wood paper filters that are favored by the coffee/snob/3rd wave cult community. So if you're brewing to taste, there are better options. Coffee production already exploits the farmers and their local communities, and growing coffee is very polluting and requires LOTS of water to brew a cup (yes, even your fair trade, direct trade, single origin, etc. etc. and etc.). So I'm just trying to find a small step to get away from being a rude person, at least use bamboo filters and reduce my virgin paper and let's face it, reusable filters suck. They taste like crap. In any case, the only other bamboo filters I've been able to find and use are If You Care Brand (if you're into coffee, DO NOT try these, they taste and smell strongly of sandalwood, even after rinsing in boiling water several times) and Melitta Bamboo (which are still only 40% bamboo and very hard to find in size 2). In any case. Yes, it's good if you're just looking for a taste, but there are better filters, they're easier to find. Definitely not the slightly greener filter of my dreams. Oh.

Pros
  • Natural Bamboo Filter
Cons
  • Very Expensive
