I have a high arch, high instep and wide foot. Also, I broke a few bones in one leg, so I need some padding. I have worn orthopedic insoles for many years. Also, most hiking and running shoes in my size are not 1/2 size. This shoe fits perfectly, out of the box with no special insoles. They solved a problem I had to work on for almost twenty years, so they're perfect for me. The only element unknown is durability, but for the price, it's hard to imagine I'd have any issues with that. I'm certainly a very small percentage of New Balance's target market, but the combination of semi-wide range and convenience makes it a great product for almost everyone.
