DEFECTIVE ITEM in Replacement Water Filter

I received a defective product. Within a few weeks of installing this membrane, my reverse osmosis system was constantly draining water, resulting in a water bill that was more than double my normal bill. I checked the empty tank pressure several times, checked for kinked hoses etc and after replacing the flow restrictor and auto shut off valve the problem persisted. After several calls and emails to Watts (manufacturer here, not seller) they said it might be a bad diaphragm and they sent me a new one for free. As soon as I installed a new membrane, the problem naturally disappeared. It cost me a lot of money to buy from this seller, but what is worse, many hours of my time and brain damage trying to track down the problem for several weeks. Now, of course, the return period has expired. I don't know if the seller or the manufacturer is to blame. Watts said these filters have a limited shelf life (contrary to my research on dry filters) and asked me to send them a photo of the part number on the membrane. When they checked it out they said it was made only last year and was of reasonable age. Maybe it's just the poor quality of the Watts brand, as others here have noted.
