Review on Yasutomo KY2 Sumi Ink Black by Nicole Mcleod

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Rich, jet black ink

I took an online calligraphy class and the instructor recommended sumi ink in part for the pleasant tactile qualities it has when drying. I have many different types of inks at home but I have never used them so I decided to give it a try. I've been very happy with them (wish I'd bought more!) and have used them in brush pens as well as calligraphy and drawing nibs. The color is rich, deep black and the ink itself is very smooth and spreads beautifully. And yes, it leaves a nice feeling on the paper when you run your fingers over it after drying. I can imagine how wonderful it must be to receive an envelope or invitation written in this ink. The ink dries matte instead of glossy like some of the other types, which I think is good quality too. I definitely plan to use it more for calligraphy and illustration. I'm glad I finally tried it.
