Unit must be installed 6-9 inches from ceiling as natural gas is primarily methane and is lighter than air. Unfortunately most forks are not that high. I found a light switch, cut a hole about nine inches from the ceiling, and installed the plug, routing the power cord to the switch. It might be beyond what most people want to do, but unless you have a big fork you'll have to run an unsightly extension cord to the unit and hang it somehow. Do not plug the device into a standard wall outlet as the outlet is not high enough to detect gas.
