Delicious water, unique and simple design

City water in my area is usually pretty good, so a carbon filter is pretty much all I need for drinking water. I used a polyurethane filter dispenser and when I saw this new ZeroWater pitcher with a charcoal filter and no plastic cartridge, I thought it was a great idea! In fact, the "cartridge" is built into the top of the filter, so you just take the filter out after it's used up and put in a new one. From what I've seen, Eco replacement filters are around $15 for 2 packs. I did a taste and smell comparison between the PUR dispenser and this new one. ZeroWater pitcher and they seem almost the same. To be clear, this is not like a ZeroWater filter that takes everything out of the water. This is a regular activated carbon filter that removes chlorine and odors. To be honest, I prefer to leave the minerals in the water because it's good for my health. In fact, I tested the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in both the ZeroWater Eco filter and the PUR product and they are basically the same. The jug itself looks very good and is easy to use. I like that there is an easy-to-open fill valve on the back that filters the water pretty quickly. The lid over the spout opens and closes automatically. The entire upper structure also slides out very easily for cleaning. Filter installation is easy. Just a quarter turn counterclockwise removes the cover, removes the filter, inserts a new filter and rotates the cover a quarter turn clockwise. However, be sure to run the filter under a tap for at least 15 seconds prior to installation. That's why I give this new ZeroWater Eco filter jug five stars. I think this is a great new and unique product at a great price.
