Review on πŸ’§ Impressive iSpring WSP50ARB: Reusable Spin Down Sediment Water Filter with Auto Flushing Module, Touch-Screen, and Brass Top – Clear Housing, 50 Micron by Mary Yergeau

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The iSpring 50 micron filter has already paid for itself!

We have very bad water with bentonite clay from well water. There is a lot of housing and real estate construction going on in our area and the aquifer seems to be a lot 'dirtier' than usual. We replaced two 5 micron cartridge filters every week. These cartridges cost between $25 and $30 each, and we need to keep a few in stock to get them to market quickly. A NOTICE. In the illustrations, the water flow is from right to left, so the first filter is closest to the iSpring filter. We installed the iSpring filter according to the instructions but made 2 changes. Instead of the 3/4" Sharkbite fittings that came with the filter, I used 1" Sharkbite fittings to fit our 1" pipes. Instead of the included 1/4" drain from To use the bottom of the iSpring filter, I clamp a 1.5" vacuum hose into the bottom of the housing, which allows the filter to drain faster and remove more debris. That would drop the water pressure to 10-15 psi and we at least Had to change 1 cartridge and sometimes both just to shower It's been a few weeks since the iSpring filter was installed and the first cartridge was quite full of loose debris but the pressure was still in the 40-40 range 50psi. After changing the first filter and waiting several days, the water pressure on both filter housings dropped to 0psi. The pressure gauge on the water pump from the well read 50psi. You can see in the movie that you can rotate the housing to remove dirt on the iSpring filtersi to solve. I had no growths so nothing fell off. iSpring put a shut-off valve just before the filter, which turned out to be very handy. When I opened up the outlet valve on the bottom of the iSpring filter you can see why the pressure was at 0 psi, the iSpring 50 micron filter screen was completely clogged. I used the main check valve to direct water into the iSpring and then turned it off to allow the water from the first filter cartridge back into the iSpring filter. This turbulence allowed the accumulated dirt to dislodge and wash out the bottom of the iSpring filter housing. After a month I only had to replace 1 filter cartridge. A NOTICE. I manually turned on the iSpring exhaust filter 1-2 times. once a day. I could probably last a few days, but it's so easy to just turn it on for a few seconds and watch the trash slide off the filter screen and into the bucket. I take out a bucket once a week to water on the landscape. It's much easier, faster and cheaper than turning off the water and changing filter cartridges. I'm not using the auto timer yet, but I'm hoping to find a good template and since I have a plugin nearby it comes in handy when I'm on vacation. You can remove the iSpring housing to clean the metal filter. Network. This may take some time as you have to be careful not to damage the metal mesh. I contacted Nick at 123filter.com and he sent me a replacement filter mesh. I wish they were for sale. I clean the metal mesh of the filter with Fast Orange Microgel and a very soft toothbrush. Fast Orange helps the bentonite clay to release from the metal mesh and cleans almost like new as you can see in the photos. With the replacement filter cloth Nick gave me, I can replace the filter cloth with a clean one and slowly clean the dirty one.
