I've read that MERV 13 is similar to 3M 1900 MPR. Since I used (and was happy with) 3M 1900 filters, which are cheaper, I bought several. A full verdict is still out, but these things seem a bit unreliable. 3M probably has more than 75 pleats on my 14x24x1 inch filter. This one has about 15 to 20. The 3M material is dense and I could believe it would filter out spores, viruses etc. This Nordic Pure has a material that is like a very thin and loose-fitting batting. My car's cabin air filters look and feel tighter. I don't think this thing will stop the little thing. I'll wait a few months and see how it performs, but I suspect there will be dust on both sides of the filter, while 3Ms will have heaps of dirt on the outside and nothing on the side of the filter. Skeptical.
